IMAGE & IMAGINATION includes 38 works by Hawa’i’i artists in a variety of media. Yamanoha’s Passages monotype was selected for the exhibit. Visitors are invited to contemplate how art communicates to them and learn about artists’ inspirations and intentions. Perceptions, questions, and insights can be posted on the museum’s interactive wall.
For close to half a century now, the Art in Public Places Collection is recognized as one of the most significant collections of late twentieth and early twenty-first century art in Hawai’i.
The Image & Imagination exhibit continues this unique historical tradition, providing the public with the opportunity to view their art at the Hawai’i State Art Museum.

The Frog and Lotus, a new store offering fine Oriental antiques, pots and garden jewelry presents a special evening event featuring the art of Hawaii island printmakers on Friday, May 23 from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. Owner Barbara Pritchard has over 20 years experience as a collector and decorator in the Far East. Artists include Katherine Molina, John McCaskill, Nora Yamanoha, Andrea Pro and Margaret Barnaby. The artists work with a variety of printmaking techniques including woodcut, monotype, chine colle and intaglio. Join us for a fascinating evening featuring a contemporary twist on a traditional art form in a complimentary setting of exotic antiques. The art can be seen at The Frog and Lotus through the month of June from 10:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday at Kona Centre, Suite #5 on Hanama Place off Kuakini Highway near Henry St. Call 327-3764 for more information.
